one black woman breathing: Loving Communion

“Loving Communion” is the final exhibition and closing ceremony for one. black woman breathing, an art activation series by exhale collective, centering care, affirmation and healing for black women and girls through the curation of sacred spaces for creative exploration. Inspired by chapters of Bell Hook’s text All About Love, New Visions and Sisters of the Yam, this closing ceremony is a culmination of exhale collective’s artist residency with The Betti Ono Foundation.

Come get a first look at exhale’s community quilting project — an archival and visual representation of the love, communal bonds, and collective power shared between Black women in Oakland and beyond. There will be mini art activations, a community dialogue on the threads that hold us together, and more! We will be in the 'Community Meeting Room', please ask for that upon entry into the library for directions.
