💛 Welcome to Once Upon a Stretch
Once Upon a Stretch is a safe, cozy space where Special Souls can enjoy gentle movement followed by hammock storytime.
The class begins in the back of the café at 3:30 PM with slow, easy-to-follow stretches done entirely on the floor. Movements are designed to help the body feel good and the mind feel calm, and can be adapted for comfort or ability.
After stretching, everyone moves into the hammocks for storytime. Katie’s stories offer a personalized experience — each participant’s name becomes part of the story as a character, making them feel included and celebrated. Every tale also carries a gentle lesson to remember, such as finding peace, staying calm, and using tools for mental strength.
Aides and caregivers are always welcome to join in and assist during the class. They are also welcome to relax in the café and enjoy drinks or treats from the menu while class is in session.
Families are welcome to arrive at least 30 minutes early to settle in and order from the menu before class begins — or stay after. Miguel, the owner of Autismo Café, offers a full menu including chicken wings, sandwiches, quesadillas, and more. By ordering from the café, you’re also supporting his new business and helping it grow.
This is a time for Special Souls to feel safe, cared for, and connected through movement, imagination, and empowering stories.
