Situated in Upper Thomson, a Hokkien Taoist temple of the Henghwa (Putian) community is dedicated to a less commonly known deity in Singapore, Lu Xian Zhang. However, this temple host one of the grandest and well known religious cultural event in Singapore.


Stood through test of time during the 7th Lunar Monthof the Hungry Ghost Festival, this temple carried out the “Spiritual Rites and Rituals” for the deceased. Let our guide to shall with you the origin of this event and how it has to do with the Japanese Occupation and Sook Ching during the World War 2.In a single place, we will get the chance to see not only a Taoist Ritual, but also the Buddhist Ritual, and the rare form of theatre Opera performance of The Rescue of the Mother by Mulian (目連救母).
