About this Event
Gert-Jan de Graaff has worked all over the globe, from Rio De Janeiro to Sweden. With over 20 years of globetrotting and exposure to some of the worlds most renowned airports, there is little he hasn’t yet seen. Gert-Jan has gained significant insight into effective management, further applying these learnt methods into everyday operations. More recently Gert-Jan has made his way back to Queensland and has been tackling the unpredictable effects the COVID-19 pandemic has had within the transport industry.
Join host Sofie Formica as she sits down with Gert-Jan de Graaff On the Couch in the Brisbane Business Hub. Gert-Jan will share his experience on effective management and staying driven during challenging times.
Gert-Jan will dive into the effects the COVID-19 pandemic has had on his own experience in the industry, along with:
- An overview of his journey in the past 20 years
- How he remains focused on his goals
- How he effectively manages a team
- What the transport industry will look like heading into 2022.

About Gert-Jan de Graaff
Gert-Jan has over 20 years of experience in major airports around the globe. Taking on key roles in several locations, he started his career in airport management in 1995 with Amsterdam Airport Schiphol where he took on management positions in commercial, financial and strategic departments. With his most recent position being President and CEO of JFKIAT LLC, the private operations of Terminal 4 at John F Kennedy International Airport.
Showing a passion for managing large and sometimes complex teams, Gert-Jan further pursued senior roles in multiple counties. Following Gert-Jan’s successful career within airport management, in 2005 he was appointed as the Managing Director of ASDC AB, the company that manages and develops the commercial activities in the terminals of Stockholm-Arlanda Airport in Sweden. Between 2007-2012 he held senior executive roles with Brisbane Airport Corporation Pty Ltd, this would include General Manager of Commercial Services and General manager Strategic Planning and Development. Before his return to Brisbane Airport in 2018, Gert-Jan lead the bid for Rio de Janeiro Airport in Brazil on behalf of the Royal Schiphol Group.
