On Generative AI and the Monstrous - is AI the Frankenstein of today?Join us for an engaging panel discussion which explores generative AI through horror and myth. Like Frankenstein's creature, today's AI is built from fragments, stitched together into strange chimeras that blur fantasy and reality. The panel will discuss generative AI from a technical, ethical, and mythical perspective. The talk is led by artist Christopher Meerdo who is an Assistant Professor of Photography and New Media at UNT, and is presented in collaboration with UNT's Special Collections October exhibition at the UNT CoLab - Frankenstein: How Science and Culture Shaped a Monster.
Additional panelists include:
Melanie Clemmons - Associate Professor of New Media and current Chair of Art at SMU
Zak Loyd - Lecturer of New Media at the College of Visual Arts & Design at UNT
Ashley Gillanders - Assistant Professor of Photography at Midwestern State University
