Cole Porter, George & Ira Gershwin and Jerome Kern wrote for movies and musicals in the 1920s that to this day are still performed on Broadway. Night after night, the very same tunes are jammed in New York’s oldest jazz clubs.
Here in Singapore, Sarah-Kei is continually seeking new ways of showcasing the unique intersection of these two classic genres. Join her and her band on a magic carpet ride, taking inspiration from jazz legends of young and old like Cecile McLorin Salvant and Anita O’Day, and Broadway stars like Sutton Foster and Audra McDonald. Imagine: a swing standard in the middle of a musical; songs from modern musicals snuck into a jazz club set; with instrumental overtures and interludes to keep the story going. Whatever surprises await, it promises to be a night of great fun.
