About the Playwright

Barry M. Putt, Jr. (playwright)

Barry M. Putt, Jr. is an accomplished playwright and screenwriter whose work explores themes of identity, resilience, and human connection. Omeed’s Tapestries was inspired by over three dozen firsthand accounts, interviews, and extensive research into the lived experiences of LGBTQ+ individuals facing persecution. Through this powerful story, Barry sheds light on the universal struggle for love and freedom, emphasizing the shared humanity that transcends cultural and societal divides.

With a deep commitment to storytelling that challenges perceptions, Barry has written for stage, screen, and audio drama, crafting narratives that bring marginalized voices to the forefront. His work has been produced in the U.S. and internationally, earning recognition for its emotional depth and thought-provoking themes. Omeed’s Tapestries stands as a testament to his believe that storytelling can foster empathy and inspire change in the increasingly divided world.

About the Moderator

Robert Liebowitz has directed over 100 productions since 1977, in all sorts of venues. This is his first endeavor with Barry, and he is honored to be leading the charge on Mr. Putt’s important new play.
