🚆 Expanding Train Travel in NebraskaA Nebraska lawmaker has taken the first step toward expanding passenger rail across our state (NPM article link below). This is an exciting chance to connect more communities, improve transportation access, and build a cleaner future.
👉 You can help shape this vision by attending one of the upcoming town halls:
- Lincoln • Sept. 5, 6–7:30 p.m. • First Presbyterian Church, 840 S. 17th St.
- North Platte • Sept. 9, 6–7:30 p.m. • North Platte Library, 120 W. 4th St.
- Grand Island • Sept. 16, 6–7:30 p.m. • Grand Island Library, 1124 W. 2nd St.
- Omaha • Sept. 22, 5:30–7 p.m. • Willa Cather Branch, Omaha Public Library, 1905 S. 44th St.
🌍 Why does this matter? Expanding train travel could significantly reduce Nebraska’s carbon footprint. On average, passenger rail produces 80% fewer emissions than cars and 86% fewer than domestic flights. Trains also use 46% less energy than driving and 34% less than flying on a per-passenger-mile basis.
