Older Adults Takeover

On June 1st 2023, our community of Older Adults take over London Bubble Theatre Head Quarters to showcase their creative offerings. The day includes performances from London Bubble’s Over 55s drama groups, Tea Break Theatre, and explores themes around power, protest, money and feminism. There’s also a chance to see a Tea Break workshop in action. Throughout the day, The Rotherhithe Shed is open for guests to sharpen their workshop skills and make something, whilst they listen to stories from Shed members. In the afternoon we will have an Afro-Caribbean lunch followed by a party. Expect dancing, party games and general merriment.

People of all ages are welcome to come along and join in the fun!

OUR PLAN FOR THE DAY:

Doors open at 12pm. Tea Break Theatre has devised two shows; one exploring the cost of living crisis, money and power. The otheris a chat show called "Looser Women" featuring some change-making women throughout history. In addition, one of our other Tea Break groups will demonstrate how a regular Tea Break session is run, and we encourage audience participation.

At 1pm, The Rotherhithe Shed will open its doors and guests are invited to create a small token keepsake in the workshop, to celebrate 10 years of Older Adults programmes at London Bubble Theatre. We'll also be displaying illustrations of Shed members stories, alongside an audio of their memories of health and safety in the work place, and how it’s changed over the years. There will be a chance to drop into The Shed anytime throughout the event.

At 1.30pm Afro-Caribbean lunch will be served, followed by a party at 2.30pm which will include DJing and playlists from some of our members, dancing and party games.
