Old Town Picnic
Avenue. Come meet your neighbors, enjoy some good food, and a presentation by the Ames Police Department.
The Old Town Neighborhood Association will provide meat from Cornbred Barbeque and buns. A vegetarian option will also be provided.
You are invited to bring a side dish or dessert to share, but, if you can’t don’t let that stop you, there is usually plenty for everyone. Bring your own beverages and tableware. We will have tables and chairs from the city’s “street and greet” block party trailer, but those might not accommodate everyone, so, if it is convenient, you might also bring your own chairs.
We plan to start gathering about 4:30pm. We hope to have a fire truck and police squad car available for kids to visit as things are being set up. About 5pm we’ll have a short meeting to elect board members for the neighborhood association, then we’ll eat. About 5:30, we will hear from the police department’s neighborhood liaison.
The event is free and open to all, but if you would like to help support the neighborhood association and be a voting member, we will have a dues table available. Dues are $20/year per family or dwelling unit. Proceeds go toward support of the newsletter, the picnic and various improvements to Old Town Park and the neighborhood
