Diz's Invites the Community to "Come Home to Downtown" for an Old Home Day Celebration
On Thursday, August 20, 2026, Diz's will bring a fresh twist to an old New England tradition by hosting Old Home Day at Diz's, a community celebration inspired by the original purpose of Old Home Days: welcoming people back, reconnecting with neighbors, and celebrating hometown pride.
The event will take place at Diz's, 860 Elm Street, during one of Downtown Manchester's busiest summer evenings. Stop by for supper, drinks and/or an appetizer while reconnecting with old friends. Make a reservation or stop by anytime between 3p.m. - 7p.m.
Guests are encouraged to reconnect with longtime friends while introducing someone new to Diz's. Regular guests who bring a first-time visitor will receive a special thank-you gift.
The restaurant will feature community partners and activities celebrating Manchester's past and present. Local organizations and businesses are being invited to participate, including the Manchester Historic Association, which has been invited to share local history and Manchester-themed merchandise, along with Crooked Pies, which has been invited to host a friendly pie contest.
Rather than competing with the many events already happening downtown, Old Home Day at Diz's is designed to complement them. Visitors can enjoy dinner, reconnect with friends, and then continue their evening at the Levitt Music Series in Veterans Park, CelebratED in Victory Park, The Little Mermaid at the Palace Theatre, Book Club at The Bookery, or the Saving Grace Dance Ensemble performance at the REX Theatre.
"Downtown has become a place where people gather every week," said Judi Window, co-owner of Diz's. "Old Home Days were originally about coming home to reconnect with your community. That's exactly what we're hoping to create, an evening where neighbors see familiar faces, meet new ones, and celebrate everything happening in Downtown Manchester."
