Old City Announces New EP, Xamine (Phratry Records), Set for March 1st Release, Regional Tour
Cincinnati, OH – February 14, 2025 – DIY indie rockers, Old City, led by songwriter Sammy McKee, are set to release a new EP, Xamine, on Phratry Records, March 1, 2025 - their first recording in over 8 years. The band will celebrate the release with a special show at Northside Tavern in Cincinnati, where they'll be joined by labelmates A.M. Nice, Nevernew, and Detroit’s Throwaway. This performance marks the first of many regional Old City shows between March and July 2025.
The four-track Xamine EP was recorded by Shane Chaney (of Swear Jar) in Old City's studio space, capturing their live sound's raw, organic energy. Steve Wethington handled mastering duties. The EP showcases the band's signature blend of punchy indie rock and thoughtful, introspective lyrics, and will be released on compact disc, cassette, and digitally.
Old City comprises Sammy McKee (lead vocals, guitar), Kathlene McKee (bass guitar, backing vocals), and Dave Cupp (drums), who also performs in the band Siren Suit. The band's chemistry and commitment to crafting heartfelt, dynamic music have earned them a loyal following in the regional DIY music scene.
Alongside the EP, Old City is preparing a full-length LP set for release later this year, also recorded by Shane Chaney. The upcoming LP promises further to showcase the band’s growth and evolution as artists.
“We have already finished most of the tracking on the full-length also and can’t wait to unleash it onto the world,” Sammy adds.
In addition to the EP release show, Old City will play several regional dates in cities including Louisville, KY, St. Louis, MO, and Dayton, OH, between March 1st and July 2025. A full list of tour dates will be available soon.
