Join us for an inspiring 3-hour Oil Pastel workshop with Mary Jane Erard!
In this workshop, you’ll combine the luminous qualities of watercolor with the rich, velvety beauty of oil pastels to create stunning impressionistic landscapes. You will learn:
How to manipulate oil pastels and watercolor together for breathtaking effects.
When and how to layer colors for maximum impact, along with essential color theory.
Techniques to create depth and atmosphere using watercolor as a base beneath pastel layers.
This workshop is perfect for both beginners and those with some experience looking to expand their skills. Oil pastels are beloved for their vibrancy and expressive qualities, once you experience their beauty, you may just find yourself hooked!
Participants are welcome to bring reference photos if there is a particular scene you would like to create, or choose from a selection of additional photos that the instructor will provide.Everyone will have the chance to complete a finished painting, and most supplies will be provided. No prior experience is necessary.
Students should bring a box of oil pastels. Any brand they have or purchase Pentel or Senellier.
Cancellation Policy: We will refund 50% for any cancellation made at least eight days before the class. After 8 days, we are unable to provide refunds for any reason, including illness. If you cannot attend after registration, you are welcome to gift your tuition to a friend at no charge. We do not transfer tuition from one class to another.
