Oil Painting Basics: 7 Week Series

Build confidence and develop your painting skills in this comprehensive 7-week oil painting course designed for both beginners and experienced artists. Whether you’re picking up a brush for the first time or looking to strengthen your technique, this class offers personalized instruction and guided exercises to help you grow as a painter.
Students will explore essential oil painting materials and principles - including color mixing, composition, value, light, and brushwork - across still life's, landscapes, self-portraits, and live models. Learn to shift from symbolic thinking to perceptual seeing to create more accurate, expressive, and compelling artwork.
Note: For the first 2 classes, the palette will be limited to black and white.
🎨 What to Bring:
1 LARGE tube white oil paint & 1 LARGE tube black oil paint
1 Palette knife (pointed tip preferred for easy cleaning)
1 Size 10 oil painting brush (synthetic filbert preferred)
1 Size 6 oil painting brush (synthetic filbert preferred)
1 Disposable paper palette pad
1 Canvas paper pad (10 sheets)
1 Roll of paper towels
(Instructor will provide odorless mineral spirits)
