We are often asked how to know what colors to put where on a painting, especially when painting from a photo. The answer is in understanding the underlying VALUES of the scene before your try to translate them into color, and Brian is going to show you how it's done! In a nutshell, the idea of values has to do with how light or dark colors are in comparison to one another. You'll be amazed at how your painting comes together while thinking of values!Brian will teach you how to compose a painting from a photograph, get your values correct, and then create warm underpainting in the first week. In the second week, he'll guide you in adding the vibrant color to your dried underpainting. This is the way the masters did it and this technique is coming back in style. You can learn it, too, as we demystify this important part of painting!
