OFFICIAL OPENING- Waiting for the Light by Georgina Richmond & Hannah Blackmore
Waiting For the Light is a reflection on the quiet intensity of a Tasmanian winter - a season of dark days, shifting skies, and fleeting moments of illumination. This body of work explores the wild, unspoilt landscape at a time when colour is intense, and light becomes precious. Moody skies hang low over coastal grasses and weathered rocks, while sudden breaks in the cloud reveal soft winter sun, casting brief, luminous glows across the land and sea.
These paintings are less about specific places and more about atmosphere and emotion - the feeling of waiting, watching, and noticing subtle changes in light. Through layered textures and a limited palette, the work captures the tension between darkness and light, stillness and movement. Waiting For The Light celebrates the raw beauty of the landscape and the quiet hope carried in each return of the light.
