What is it?
Our Office Hours are a series of one-to-one sessions with various experts from to support tech startup founders on their journey. In this one, participants will be able to engage directly with and receive personalised advice from Victoria McLaren, Investment Manager, and Jamie Warner, Investment Associate, from Maven.
Areas up for discussion include:
- Your company’s plans for investment and consider any current funding round
- Assessing your company’s readiness and suitability for equity investment
- Understand both your current and future funding needs to help support growth plans

Who is Victoria McLaren?
Victoria is an Investment Manager at Maven joining in 2024 with responsibility for deal origination and execution, with a focus on Scottish deals and opportunities for the IFS Fund. Victoria comes from a legal background, having practiced as a corporate lawyer for seven years at Brodies. She specialised in M&A, private equity, venture capital and early-stage investment work. Her deal experience spans a wide variety of industry sectors and involved cross-border transactions, with some notable deals in the technology, life-science and software sectors
Who is Jamie Warner?
Jamie is an Investment Associate who joined Maven in July 2024. His role involves deal origination and execution, with a focus on Scottish deals and opportunities for the IFS Fund. Prior to joining Maven, Jamie worked at EY on audit and assurance engagements across a range of sectors including technology, energy, retail and manufacturing. Prior to EY, he spent over four years at Azets where he sat both within the Corporate Tax and Audit teams. Jamie is a Chartered Accountant.
What can I expect?
You will receive personalised advice from Victoria and Jamie during an in-person 25 minute slot.

This is a private meeting between yourself/your team and Victoria and Jamie from Maven.
