What is an Offers and Needs Market? A joyful, guided process where groups come together to discover and share their passions, knowledge, skills, resources, and needs. We need this infusion of organized community support and contribution amidst these harsh times.It builds community - which we all benefit from strengthening right now, especially. Come ask for what you need or desire! Come offer your passions, resources, or skills! Let's grow our community STRONGER! The Offers and Needs Market was described by one participant like this: "Share your skills and ask for support, for silly and serious things, and we’re all doing it so the fun outweighs the self-consciousness! It’s like actually learning to be neighbors together. Finding our people and celebrating the treasure of community!"
Organized by Slow, the event will kick off with some ice breakers and singing together. Then we'll move into preparing our offers and needs (written on post-its). These are then posted for everyone to see. Once the market opens, everyone can browse the offers and needs. It can be magical and exciting to experience making a match! We’ll conclude with some reflections and another song.
You may wonder - what kinds of things do people ask for or offer? Examples include asking for/offering a guitar, babysitting, dog walking, spreadsheet help, financial assistance, or basically anything you can dream of!
We hope to compile the offers and needs into a digital format to be referred to by participants after the event, as well.
Please try to attend the FULL event if you plan to come since each activity builds on the previous ones.
