Small group restaurant meetup (4–6 people). Everyone pays their own bill.
Short summary
The first stop in this series - Caffè La Tana - was a blast. Good food, real conversation, and exactly the kind of night that makes me want to keep this series going. So now we move to stop #2: dumplings. This time we're going to Dinesty on Robson - the kind of place people keep recommending for a reason. Not because it's trendy. Because when you want soup dumplings, noodles, buns, and a table that actually feels alive, this is one of the obvious contenders.
The point of this series is still the same: explore Vancouver one place at a time, keep the group small, and make it feel like an actual night out instead of a 20-person birthday party where nobody can hear anyone.

Why this stop looks promising
The obvious move here is the soup dumplings. But from what people keep mentioning, this is also a good place to branch out a bit - Shanghai fried noodles, pan-fried pork buns, maybe a green onion pancake or the spicy green beans with minced pork if the table wants something beyond dumplings. And because this lands on a Wednesday, there's also the nice little bonus that Dinesty does a Super Wednesday combo, which makes this stop even easier if you don't want to overthink the menu.
The vibe
No food-critic cosplay. No pressure to "know" anything. Just show up hungry, try a few things, and be honest about what's actually worth coming back for.
One important note
This series works a little differently than my other meetups because restaurants need real numbers. So this one has a 1-strike no-show policy. If you RSVP yes and can't make it, please update your RSVP as soon as you know. Tiny tables only work if people are considerate.
How the night works
I'll reserve a table for 5–7 people under Reza. Please show up on time - restaurants hold tables for a limited window. And yes, we're keeping the tiny tradition: near the end, I'll ask the table "If aliens landed in Vancouver tonight, what dish here would you use to explain humanity - and why?"
