Of Folklore and Fire: A starlit journey into the heart of summer solstice myth, ritual and magick

The sky darkens. The forest breathes. An oath is sworn. A promise is broken. In the wick of the night, a bear is waiting; He holds the key to your heart’s desire. . .
Will you go to him soon, my love? Will you go to him now?
This Saturday 20 June, join one of the South’s most masterful weavers of immersive tales and multi-award-winning ritualist, Ellie Brooks, on a starlit journey into the heart of Summer Solstice myth, ritual and magick.
Held in the sacred sanctuary of Old Bidlake Farm in Bridport, we will gather around the Solstice hearth as the ancestral peoples of Earth have done for thousands of years to honour the heart-fire of our universe and our most celestial star; the sun.
• Delve into Summer Solstice folklore and discover why Finnish star-lore tells us the Great Bear was born to Earth at the Summer Solstice, why the Thunder Hag rumbles the summer skies over Scotland, and why the mystical bloom of the Slavic ‘Fire-Fern’ flower can only be found if sought alone at the stroke of midnight on a Summer Solstice night
• Listen spellbound as Ellie spins the threads of story around us by solstice firelight, leading us into the enchanting world of ‘East of the Sun and West of the Moon’; a tale rooted in the ancient folklore of Europe that has echoed through the ages of these lands for millennia
• Take part in our inclusive Summer Solstice Ceremony, as we burn the Earth Kin Sun Wheel to release what no longer serves and invite the transformative powers of the sun to bless our intentions for the seasons to come
Investment: £27 per person
This is an immersive, ritualistic experience designed for an adult audience. To maintain the depth and intimacy of the circle, we kindly request that guests be aged 18 and over.
The site will open at 6pm, when guests are invited to bring a picnic while enjoying the tranquil beauty of Old Bidlake Farm. At 7.30pm, we will bless the Summer Solstice hearth fire in honour of the sun and our journey into the realm of myth and magick will begin. The event will finish at approximately 10pm.
If you wish to stay for the weekend or overnight on Saturday night after the fire dies down to ash and ember, camping can be booked separately to the event at:
