Agenda Topics:
1. PLANT/SPROUT Updates
For the grant-funded project, several volunteer workdays will be scheduled to build out much of the new infrastructure. Dates will be shared at the meeting. We’ll also highlight other seasonal projects and what's growing in the garden this fall season.
2. Crime & Safety Spotlight
Our Crime & Safety webpage - https://www.volkerkcmo.org/crime-and-safety - has been refreshed with updated resources for neighbors. Vince will also share an update on our newly formed Crime & Safety Committee, along with best practices for what to do when an incident occurs.
3. Parking Permit Reminders
We’ll review reminders and updates about neighborhood parking permits.
4. VNA Bylaws Revisions & Membership Fees
The board has drafted updates to the bylaws and proposed adjustments to membership fees. We must secure votes from at least 10% of our membership. To meet this requirement, a voting poll will be sent out in advance.
5. Halloween Activities – October Spooky Fun
Spooky Spaces Decorating Contest (Oct 1–17): Enter your home—or nominate a neighbor’s! Community voting opens Oct 24.
Ghoul’s Night Out at Roanoke Community Center (Oct 17): VNA will have a table at this KC Parks event. Kids can trick-or-treat along the trail, join the costume parade, play games, and explore the Ghoul House.
Neighborhood Block Party & Costume Contest (Oct 18): Join us for fun, food, and live music—plus costume contests for all ages (and pets!).
Spooky Volker History Project (Ongoing): We’re collecting stories, legends, and local lore with the goal of creating a “Volker Ghost Tour” in 2026.
