Join us Tuesday, October 21 from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. for a tour of Green Bridge Growers farm at 61591 Bremen Highway, Mishawaka. Founded by Chris Tidmarsh and Jan Pilarski, GBG is a four-season sustainable vegetable farm that grows an abundance of food for the local community while providing skill-matched training and jobs for autistic youth and adults. Green Bridge Growers uses a variety of innovative, season-extension methods at their five-acre site including two hoop houses and a 3200 square foot aquaponics greenhouse where fish and plants grow in tandem in vertical towers. Their commitment to sustainability reaches across all areas of the farm – in their two-acre backfield GBG creates their own compost, enriches the soil with the use of cover crops, and has a solar array to supply all the electricity needed on their farm.
Food access and growing culturally-appropriate food is a priority of the farm, and in the last two years they delivered 12,000 pounds of fresh produce annually to the Food Pantry of Northern Indiana. For more about their farm see the Edible Michiana feature,
