Fluidity of Emotions Workshop for Kids at The Farm

Come join us at The Farm for a fun and interactive workshop where kids (9-14) can explore and understand their emotions in a safe and creative environment. Our experienced facilitators will guide the children through various artistic activities and exercises to help them learn how to express and manage their feelings effectively with the help of our equine friends. Located at 740 McQuilkin Dr, this in-person event promises to be a day filled with learning, laughter, and growth. All participants will be welcome to get creative while identifying, naming, and learning about emotions and how they impact us. We will learn how we hold our emotions in our bodies & how they can impact others around us. We will work alongside the horses as they teach us how to calm ourselves down when we are having big feelings. No creative experience needed, all supplies will be provided.

Workshop led by Kristy Walter, ATR-BC, LPC, CGCS-CA (Art Therapist & Counselor) from Innersight LLC and co-facilitated by Divine Interactions Equine Facilitated Wellness, LLC and Boeser Equine, LLC!

$35 per child ages 9-14 years old (includes all supplies)

Please plan to arrive 10-15 minutes prior to the start of the event (by 5:15pm for 5:30pm start for ages 5-8, OR 6:45pm for 7:00pm start for ages 9-14 so that we can get everyone parked, forms completed, situated, and started on time to respect the time of our workshop leaders. Please note that the driveway is U-shaped with 2 entrances, however we ask that you to please use the entrance to the far right closest to our sign, and park to the right of the office building by the split rail fence in front of the banner for "Divine Interactions". You will see a sign for Misty Hollow Farm by the left entrance and a sign for Divine Interactions Equine Facilitated Wellness to the right, closest to the parking area. There is additional parking down in front of the lower garage if you keep driving down the hill to the right along the fence to your right when you pull in the 2nd entrance closest to our sign, if you are physically comfortable with walking up the hill and have 4WD or AWD (please do not use the lower parking area during inclement weather). We will have the office open for registration/check in and we have an indoor restroom on site. Please ensure that the address you are coming to is: 740 McQuilkin Drive Apollo, PA 15613 and please check in upon arrival (there is a wreath on the front door), and remain in the office or parking lot area until we walk to the event area together as a group. If you have trouble finding us, please call us at 724-567-8988. Please note this event is on RAIN or SHINE as we can either be indoors our outdoors with our horse friends regardless of weather!

The age ranges are suggested and somewhat flexible (if you are unsure of which time to register your kiddo, please ask us via email or call 724-567-8988), and if registration for either workshop is particularly low, we may combine workshops, so please keep an eye on your email for updates!

*Please remember to dress your kiddos in and wear comfortable old clothes that can get messy/dirty, in layers appropriate for the weather (long pants strongly recommended), and closed toed shoes are REQUIRED (boots preferred - NO SANDALS). We also suggest bringing sunscreen, bug spray, and wearing a hat and/or sunglasses. Always feel free to bring your own drinks (nonalcoholic) and snacks. We always have plenty of extra bottled water, and a Keurig stocked with coffee, tea, hot chocolate, etc. on site!

Meet the art therapist facilitating our Fluidity of Emotions Workshops for Kids at the Farm!

Kristy Walter ATR-BC, LPC, CGCS-CA (she/her) is a board certified art therapist, licensed professional counselor, and certified child and adolescent grief counseling specialist who works with Innersight LLC. Kristy works alongside people to help them honor their feelings, work through their stories, learn mindfulness & creative coping skills, & harness the power of their emotions. Kristy strives to create a safe space where everyone can share their story, be authentic, feel heard & seen, and express all of their emotions without judgment. As an avid animal lover, it makes sense that she incorporates her dog Baymax at times in the creative process to bring joy, kindness, and love to others in their creative journey. We are thrilled to have Kristy joining us to offer creative arts based workshops focusing on emotion identification and regulation for children!
