A New Series By Lance Johnson

Johnson's work explores the intersection of personal experience and collective memory, believing that every piece I create can serve as both a reflection and a catalyst for societal change.

"For this exhibit, Art is Political, I created a body of work that to me celebrates the incredible vibrance and possibilities of diversity. Diversity reflects a wide range of human experiences, cultures, and identities Abstract pieces that explore the richness of multicultural urban communities."

Even when art does not explicitly address political themes, it is influenced by the cultural, social, and historical contexts in which it is created. Art can amplify marginalized voices, critique systems of oppression, or inspire solidarity and activism. By engaging with political realities, artists can provoke thought, stir emotions, and encourage action, making art a powerful tool for social transformation.

Art, for me, is political—it is a voice, a challenge, and a mirror reflecting not just the world as it is, but the world as it could be.
