Please allot additional time to enter Fort Shafter. New security access requirements have been instituted at Fort Shafter. If you have a DoD CAC, you can enter and escort others in your vehicle onto the base. If you have a Fort Shafter DBIDS (other installations not accepted), you can enter but cannot escort others in your vehicle unless they have a CAC or DBIDS.

The Fort Shafter Pass and ID Office is closed. You will need to pick up a one-day pass at the Tripler's Pass and ID Office if you don’t have a DoD CAC, Fort Shafter DBIDS, or will be riding with someone with a DOD CAC. Please plan for extra time if you need to pick up a one-day pass at Tripler. Please bring your driver's license, and vehicle registration and insurance.

City and County of Honolulu, Kaka‘ako Catch Basin Retrofits, South Street Bicycle Lane Permeable Pavement, and Sheridan Street/Kapi‘olani Boulevard Bioretention Area Case Studies

The Kaka‘ako Catch Basin Retrofits repairs 45 dilapidated existing concrete catch basins. The South Street Bicycle Lane Permeable Pavement Project replaces existing asphalt pavement with four (4) different permeable pavement/paver surfaces, including porous asphalt and pervious concrete. A bioretention cell will be constructed at the intersection of Sheridan Street and Kapi‘olani Boulevard to treat ponding stormwater and encourage infiltration. All three (3) projects were placed on a fast-track design and permitting process.
