October 25 Volunteer Event at Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens

Space is limited for this event and pre-registration is required. However, walk-up registration is available if space permits.

What you will be doing: Participate in a variety of park stewardship activities including invasive plant removal, litter collection, flower bed weeding, trail maintenance and more. Some activities involve working in shallow ponds. This event will run rain or shine—please dress accordingly and plan to work outside!

When: Saturday, October 25, 2025 at 9am

Where: Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens, 1550 Anacostia Ave NE, Washington, DC 20019.

Getting There: Visitors should enter the park on Douglas St and Anacostia Ave at the green ranger tent. Street parking only available while maintenence is still being done. By Metro, the park entrance is 1.0 mile from the Deanwood Metro Station and 1.3 miles from the Minnesota Ave Station, both on the Orange Line. By foot or bike, access the park via the Anacostia River Trail.

What we provide: All necessary tools and supplies including gloves, boots, waders, shovels, rakes, wheelbarrows, trash bags, trash pickers and more.

Bring with you: We recommend you bring a water bottle, snack, hat, bag/backpack, a change of clothes, and sun protection. Wear clothes and shoes you aren't afraid to get wet or muddy and dress according to the weather. We recommend that you do not wear jewelry.

Other: We encourage families and students to join us. Volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult chaperone, parent or guardian. This event is eligible for Student Service Learning hours (SSL). Bring your form or email it to Alivia Villari at [email protected].
