Midnight Channel
Midnight Channel (Lethbridge, AB) blends the boundary-pushing spirit of 1960s cosmic free jazz with the vibrant energy of modern jazz. Infused with elements of contemporary post-bop, Japanese fusion, and neo-soul grooves, Midnight Channel brings a sound that’s both rooted in tradition yet refreshingly modern—perfect for longtime jazz fans and first-time listeners alike. Their live performances are an explosion of energy, soaring improvisations, and contagious joy, transforming the stage into a sacred space where audiences are held spellbound.
Whiling
Whiling features members of Edmonton's music scene known for playing with Pallor, Pigeon Breeders, Mbira Renaissance, and more. Since debuting at the Edmonton Jazz Festival in 2023, the band has gone on to appear at Sled Island and Winterruption. Whiling’s debut album reached number one on the CJSR Top 30 and Jazz charts and spent eight weeks on the CJSR and CJSW charts. The album was hailed as “an atmospheric, instrumental journey” by CBC's Tarik Robinson and a "silky-smooth modern progressive cocktail" by Cups N Cakes' Jeff MacCallum.
