Lloyd Center Redevelopment: Reconnecting an Iconic Portland Site

Opened in 1960, Lloyd Center served for decades as a destination for shopping, community gathering, and celebration. Today, the 22-block site is undergoing a significant transformation designed to reconnect it with the surrounding Lloyd District and inner Northeast Portland through new streets, open spaces, and mixed-use development.

Join Nolan Lienhart, Principal at ZGF Architects, for an inside look at the history, evolution, and redevelopment of Lloyd Center. Nolan will share the vision and urban framework guiding the transformation, phased infrastructure plans, and the recently adopted voluntary Central City Master Plan (CCMP). He will also discuss lessons learned through the planning process, the first project now under construction, and what comes next for this major central city redevelopment.

Nolan is an urban strategist with two decades of experience leading complex urban design and planning initiatives. During his 15 years with ZGF, he has advised public, private, and institutional clients on transformative city- and district-scale projects throughout the country, including Portland’s Broadway Corridor Central City Master Plan, Denver’s Civic Center Transit District Plan, and Seattle’s Third Avenue Vision.
