Walter Ogle: "Viable"
"I go into a light trance state when I work. The world disappears somehow, and I feel insulated. Maybe this is a common experience. My motivation is simply to let it happen. I am always surprised at the amount of time that elapses when I stop. I defend this concept because anyone’s work is completely subjective (personal feelings, tastes, opinions, biases, inspirations). There are plenty of times when a canvas gets destroyed or painted over, when I look at supposedly finished work. "
Paul Breuer: "Not Your Granny's Quilts"
"Patterns repeat conveying a sense of repetition and the idea of the whole being greater than the sum of its’ parts. The process of
printmaking is very much dictated by patterns. The physical
along with the visual repetition involved in running an edition, a
series of identical prints from the same plate. Within this
process I take liberties to alter the pattern in unexpected ways
to enhance or degrade the image in ways to my liking, also
known as a variable edition. Lately I’ve been processing old
prints, cutting them up and reassembling them in a pattern for
the purpose of overwhelming the viewer’s visual experience
and challenge them to locate a variety of patterns within the
final piece."
All work will be on display October 2-30, 2026.
