This is for submitting an online amendment to a motion and/ or for submission of an emergency motion, or topic for discussion at the next UNISON South West Regional Council meeting, which is being held on Saturday 5 October 2024.

Please note, from here onwards, and within the online form, the word 'motion' represents motion(s) or topic(s) for discussion at Regional Council.

FAQ's

When does the amendments/ emergency motion have to be submitted by?

The online form for emergency motions and amendments needs completing and be received by the region electronically by no later than 2pm on Friday 4 October 2024. After this time, online registration of amendments and emergency motions will automatically close. Subject to registration by the stated deadline, when you click submit, the motion will automatically be submitted to the designated recipients, including UNISON South West regional secretary, Kerry Baigent.

How do you submit more than one amendment or emergency motion?

To submit more than one motion amendment or emergency motions, please selection Motion 2 and, if necessary, Motion 3, and complete all the relevant sections.

If submitting by post, please print off and submit one copy for each separate motion, including all the information requested online, and allow sufficient time for delivery.

Can I submit a motion amendment or emergency motion by email?

Yes, we can provide a Word form for you to complete, or you can submit details by email to the event organiser below. The following information must be included:-

• Contact details for the member (name, contact telephone number, email address)• Name of submitting body (Branch/ group/ committee/ network)

• Title and details of motion/ amendments

• Date of quorate meeting

Emergency Motions

Emergency Motions will only be considered if :-

• Emergency Motions shall be submitted to the Regional Secretary (RMT) as soon as is practical and no later than 2pm on Friday 4 October. They will then be considered by the officers of the Regional Council.

• They will require the same evidence of consideration by the submitting body as that for other motions except that it will be submitted with an explanation of the reasons for the item not being submitted in accordance with these procedures.

• The criteria for acceptance of emergency motions are:

a) The matter could not be raised in debate on the Agenda

b) The action called for is not covered by another motion, or amendment

c) The facts giving rise to the subject matter have occurred since the closing date for motions and amendments [It is not sufficient that the branch was not aware of the facts until after the closing date]

d) The subject cannot be dealt with through normal channels other than Regional Council

Amendments

Amendments to motions appearing on the Agenda must be in writing and received by the Regional Secretary no later than 2pm on Friday 4 October and are governed by the same procedures applying to motions.
