About 30% of US adults have a sleep disorder, with insomnia by the far the most common. Insomnia co-occurs, and can worsen, and interfere with treatment for, disorders including traumatic brain injury, PTSD, depression, anxiety, and attention disorders. Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBTi) is a research-supported, efficacious treatment for chronic and short-term insomnia.
MEASURABLE OBJECTIVES - Participants will be able to:
1. Explain the purpose of a sleep diary and use the information to guide CBTi techniques for clients complaining of insomnia.
2. Identify which disorders or symptoms are not appropriate for CBTi and require medical attention.
3. Describe appropriate CBTi approaches for case studies (in training).
