Oconee County Clovers 2026 Hikes
About this Event
All registered 4-H members from Cloverbud to senior are welcome to join the Oconee 4-H Clover Club on our hikes! As hikes and topics are added, the details below will be updated. Please contact Lil Ledford [email protected] and Sara Foster [email protected] with questions and suggestions.
Event registration closes 24 hours before the start of the event. If the minmimum registration is met (varies by event), we may be able to add additional participants after the registration cut off.
Cancellation of hikes due to prohibitive weather (weather that is either dangerous or that will make the activity impossible) or low attendance will be made 24 hours in advance via email.
CHAPERONE NOTE : This is a mixed custodial/non-custodial care event. Youth MAY be dropped off, or adults may stay for the program. Please indicate your intent when registering. Youth who are dropped off may ONLY BE PICKED UP BY APPROVED PERSONS. Pick up approval can be added in or completed by a youth guardian. All persons present at the event (youth participants, accompanying adults, and non-participating youth) MUST be registered in Eventbrite. Anyone who does not stay does not need a ticket.
The Oconee County Clover Club (general interest/all ages) meets from 6-7/7:30pm on the first and third Monday of most months at the Clemson Extension office. Click here to register for the club meetings.

Hike Schedule:
River Fun on the Chattooga
- Date: June 20 (summer solstice June 21)
- Location: Woodall Shoals
- Activity/Topic: Swimming and rock exploration, MAYBE gem hunting or gold panning!!
- Difficulty: Easy, but swimming and scrambling on rocks could make it harder.
- Bring river fun equipment! Pit toilet at the parking space. Always bring your pack with your 10 essentials! You may want to pack a lunch.

- Location: Highlands Biological Station https://highlandsbiological.org/
- Activity/Topic: Carnivorous plants! This upland bog habitat in the Appalacian Rainforest has pitcher plants and aquatic bladderworts. There's also a short, but tough, hike with some lovely old-growth trees! We'll see if they have any special events as we get closer.
- Difficulty: Varies, based on what you want to do.

Fee Statement: Some hike locations may have entry fees (usually based on per-vehicle). We will do our best to let you know ahead of time.
Membership requirement: Current 4-H membership in is required for participation in this Event. Because this is a custodial care event, we cannot grant exceptions for youth not accompanied by their own adult.
Custodial Care: Youth must be approved, enrolled members in 4HOnline with South Carolina 4-H Youth Development to attend this event. This is a custodial care event. Only adult chaperones (registered in this Eventbrite) and invited facilitators approved to be at the event will be allowed onsite during this event.
