OCEAN with David Attenborough

On Wednesday, September 30 at 19:00, we invite you to a special free screening of Ocean with David Attenborough at the Shakolas Educational Centre for Clinical Medicine of the University of Cyprus in Nicosia.
Through spectacular and immersive cinematography, the Emmy-award winning film takes audiences on a journey across coral reefs, kelp forests and the open ocean, revealing the extraordinary beauty, diversity and importance of marine life. It also explores the challenges facing our seas – including destructive fishing practices and coral reef bleaching – while sharing inspiring stories that demonstrate the ocean’s remarkable capacity to recover when it is effectively protected.
Following the screening, guests will be invited to a discussion with local marine experts, exploring the challenges facing our seas and discussing practical ways to protect and restore marine ecosystems.
The evening will conclude with a cocktail reception, where attendees can discover and taste selected edible invasive alien species – turning an environmental challenge into an opportunity to raise awareness and encourage more sustainable choices.

Την Τετάρτη 30 Σεπτεμβρίου στις 19:00 σας προσκαλούμε σε μια ξεχωριστή δωρεάν προβολή της ταινίας Ocean with David Attenborough στο Σιακόλειο Εκπαιδευτικό Κέντρο Κλινικής Ιατρικής του Πανεπιστημίου Κύπρου στη Λευκωσία.
Μέσα από εντυπωσιακή και καθηλωτική κινηματογράφηση, η βραβευμένη με Emmy ταινία ταξιδεύει το κοινό σε κοραλλιογενείς υφάλους, δάση φυκιών και τον ανοιχτό ωκεανό, αποκαλύπτοντας την εξαιρετική ομορφιά, ποικιλομορφία και σημασία της θαλάσσιας ζωής. Εξερευνά επίσης τις προκλήσεις που αντιμετωπίζουν οι θάλασσές μας - συμπεριλαμβανομένων των καταστροφικών αλιευτικών πρακτικών και της λεύκανσης των κοραλλιογενών υφάλων - ενώ παράλληλα μοιράζεται εμπνευσμένες ιστορίες που καταδεικνύουν την αξιοσημείωτη ικανότητα του ωκεανού να ανακάμπτει όταν προστατεύεται αποτελεσματικά.
Μετά την προβολή, θα ακολουθήσει συζήτηση στρογγυλής τραπέζης με εμπειρογνώμονες σε θαλάσσια ζητήματα, οι οποίοι θα διερευνήσουν τις προκλήσεις που αντιμετωπίζουν οι θάλασσές μας και πρακτικούς τρόπους προστασίας και αποκατάστασης των θαλάσσιων οικοσυστημάτων
Η βραδιά θα ολοκληρωθεί με μια δεξίωση κοκτέιλ, όπου οι συμμετέχοντες θα μπορούν να ανακαλύψουν και να δοκιμάσουν βρώσιμα χωροκατακτητικά ξενικά είδη– μετατρέποντας μια περιβαλλοντική πρόκληση σε ευκαιρία ευαισθητοποίησης και ενθάρρυνσης για πιο βιώσιμες επιλογές.
