A panel and discussion on what we can do about climate change and how it relates to human rights, organised by SG Climate Rally and MARUAH
About this Event

Last year, the International Court of Justice ruled that states have obligations to take “necessary measures to protect the climate system and other parts of the environment.” Given this, are Singapore’s actions sufficient?

This event will explore how we can fulfil this obligation to act at the levels of individuals, organisations and movements calling for systemic change.
[SPEAKERS]

A former lifestyle magazine editor, Betty Lau-Khoo Kingsley now regrets the cult of consumerism it promoted. It prompted her to leave for Darwin, Australia to search for the roots of the diseases that plague us and our planet and how to heal them. Betty then started StarSeed Eco-Village along the coast of Johor, and has since returned to Singapore to live with family from 2023, when she turned 80.

Clara Feng is an international development practitioner focused on governance, rule of law, and sustainable infrastructure across Asia. She supports governments, businesses, and civil society through multi-stakeholder and collaborative approaches to governance challenges and policy reform. She is also a founding member of MARUAH and has been involved since 2007.

Debby Giam is an Analyst at the Carbon Trust’s Singapore office, where she plays a pivotal role in delivering a diverse portfolio of advisory work from carbon footprinting for businesses to government-funded market transformation projects. She has been a member of SG Climate Rally since 2019.

We invite you to share your thoughts too!
