Object Afterlife Art Challenge 2026- Call to Artists
About this Event
CALL FOR ARTISTS: 17th Annual Object Afterlife Art Challenge!
MECCA is thrilled to announce the 17th Annual Object Afterlife Art Challenge, a unique and creative opportunity for artists to push their creative boundaries while promoting environmental sustainability. We're calling on artists to transform scrap materials into thought-provoking works of art, bridging the gap between fine art and scrap art. Join us for our most well-known and inspiring show of the year.
The Challenge:
- Receive a mystery bag of scrap materials and create a new piece of art within three months. We'll email you when materials are ready for pickup.
- Use all or part of the materials provided, and feel free to incorporate other mediums
- Submit your artwork between September 15th and 20th at MECCA (555 High Street, Eugene, OR)
Important Dates:
- Artist sign-up deadline: June 13 (or when we reach 100 applicants, we ALWAYS sell out fast)
- Art pick-up: starts June 15th at MECCA
- Art drop-off: September 16th-20th at MECCA
- Art show and awards ceremony: October 2rd, 5:30-8 pm
Participate and Support MECCA:
- Limited to 100 artists (We sell out fast every year!)
- Entry fee: sliding scale from $25-$50. There are multiple ticket tiers to choose from. Pay what you can to support MECCA's arts program!
- Participating artists receive $15 in MECCA money to spend in our shop on recycled art supplies
Object Afterlife elevates the realm of re-use art, engages the local art community, inspires the creative reuse of unwanted materials, and raises awareness of our universal need to re-imagine the objects around us in a fun and creative way. Artists of all interests and mediums are welcome to participate!
