About this Event
Join up to 12 other new moms for six facilitated gatherings at draft (a beautiful, light-filled space in Fountain Square). What you can expect:
- To be seen, validated, nurtured and held in camaradarie
- Herbal tea and sharing with other moms about the joys and challenges of being a new mom through journaling and prompts
- Practices to move stress and stuck emotions out of the body through simple somatic movement, mindfulness and breathwork
- A welcome space for both you and your baby
- New tools to use with self and baby
At the end of our six gatherings, we will schedule a pitch-in breakfast just to continue to connect and support one another on our journeys. And sign up for a companion series on Zoom!
Meet your facilitator:
LaDonna has mentored and mothered many. Her heart has continued to dive deeply into helping women in important transition times in their lives: puberty, pregnancy, postpregnancy and peri/post menopause.
LaDonna is equally passionate about teaching as she is about learning. With over 25 years of experience, she curates space for both the noise and the silence that live in the vulnerability and resilience that is motherhood. She weaves possibilities and invites healing through creative and relatable processes.
She spent 10 years as a family support specialist and lactation consultant, helping new moms with the process of building confidence. Her overall priority has always been to create safety, validation, and honor around the mother’s new role and to provide education and resources to cultivate parent-child bonding. She is an advocate for the power of the mother’s role in neuroscience and brain development.
LaDonna’s past work also included work with girls with eating disorders, which inspired her to become a Certified Functional Nutrition Counselor and further explore the connection between the gut and mental health as well as nourishing, hormone balancing and anti-inflammatory foods and beverages.
On the personal side, she shares: “I was raised by a single mom and strong women who weren't always related by blood. The well known phrase ‘The Hand the Rocks the Cradle Rules the World’ is a powerful one. Yet women are often lacking support through our significant transitions: into womanhood, motherhood, or even becoming a matriarch and mentor. My desire is to provide supportive connections, education on nourishing foods, and restorative space for women in all our stages.”
