Introducing a brand NEW band , with one of their first ever performances, however, they have names you may well know very well indeed!
Multi-instrumentalists Tom Oakes and Ali Hutton, are joined by the relative young newcomer, Matt Tighe (fiddle).
Matt Tighe , born into an Irish and Trinidadian background, studied Classical Violin at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London, however is fast establishing himself in the folk/trad world. Matt has won numerous All Britain Championships, been a finalist in the Danny Kyle Award at Celtic Connections and a semi finalist at the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award.
Ali Hutton , originally from Perthshire, is a musician (pipes, whistle, guitar), producer and composer and has performed and worked alongside some of the most respected musicians + bands on the scene such as Capercaillie, Dougie Maclean, Carlos Nunez, Deaf Shepherd, Salsa Celtica, Shooglenifty, Old Blind Dogs, Finlay MacDonald (+band), Grit! Orchestra, Treacherous Orchestra, Ross Ainslie and Ali Hutton’s ‘Symbiosis’, Tryst, Malin Lewis and From the Ground. Ali has travelled throughout the world in a varied, creative and interesting journey thus far.
Tom Oakes , originally from Devon, now calls Edinburgh home. A well known face at the cities sessions, this multi-instrumentalist (flute, whistles, guitar, Bouzouki) is also a composer, teacher, an established producer and accomplished sound designer. Playing extensively with OBT, Ross Couper and Auvo Quartet, he is a versatile and well established folk musician (and accompanist), with an extensive and diverse portfolio of music in + out of folk/trad music. He has recently completed another successful run of “The Hearth” at the Scottish Storytelling Centre/Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Join us for a night of music with Oakes, Hutton & Tighe - it's gonna be a blast! November 27th at 8.00pm (doors open at 7.30)
