About this Event
Brazilian jazz group O Som Do Jazz gives a concert at the Museum of American Arts and Crafts Movement (MAACM) on Saturday, July 27. It’s an evening of grooving samba, Bossa Nova, MPB and Baião at the beautiful MAACM in the ball room. O Som Do Jazz (the sound of jazz in Portuguese) recaptures the grace, energy and spirit of Brazilian music. This group features Rio de Janeiro singer Andrea Moraes Manson and an international crew of master musicians. With 4 CDs and original music placed on BBC, Fox and HBO, O Som Do Jazz is a Florida favorite with performances on the Miami International Jazz Fest, Artis-Naples, Clearwater Jazz Holiday, DTO Jazz Fest, Pensacola Jazz Fest and more.
Press for O Som Do Jazz:
"Here you have a Brazilian vocalist performing together with Colombian, Cuban and US musicians in a joyful performance of Brazilian sounds... Andrea Moraes Manson’s vocals are direct and with plenty of swing to spare. It’s a joy to hear her voice." - Egídio Leitão, Musica Brasileira
"O Som Do Jazz Sextet performed to a packed Side Door cabaret room at the Palladium. Attendees lounged to the pitch-perfect sounds of the experienced jazzy players; a sonorous mix of instrumental numbers, classic Brazilian pop and sultry samba... Dynamic and subtly passionate, Moraes sang with a range that went from whisper soft to belly-socking belt-outs, drawing from Brazilian greats like Elis Regina." - Julie Garisto, Creative Loafing
