About this Event

In Lagos, youths are believed to constitute about 50% of the population, equaling around 10million people, facing high rate of unemployment and an over-growing population hereby posing security challenges in the long run. Unemployement stands at 53.4% 2021. The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime recently released the national drug use survey in Nigeria which shows drug abuse prevalence rate in the South West zone as very high, Oyo State, with 23 percent prevalence rate, is occupying second position in the region while Lagos State which has 33 per cent prevalence rate occupies the first position in drug abuse in South-West. In Lagos alone, over 300 young people were rescued from human traffickers in 2021, sadly the trend is on an upward trajectory. The Lagos State Government has revealed that it recorded a total of 10,007 reported cases of domestic violence including sexual abuse perpetrated against young adults and children between May 2019 till August 26, 2021. In 2022, Lagos has a budget of 1.383trillion, budget for education was pegged at 171.64billion representing 12.6% of the total budget a good indication that we can still do better as a state.
