Chromeo are the self-proclaimed “only successful Arab/Jewish partnership since the dawn of human culture” — a Montreal-born electro-funk duo who’ve spent over two decades turning dance floors into neon-lit time machines. Comprised of David “Dave 1” Macklovitch and Patrick “P-Thugg” Gemayel, the pair met in the mid-’90s and bonded over a shared love of vintage synths, talkboxes, and unapologetic groove. What started as a high school friendship evolved into a global phenomenon, with Chromeo becoming modern masters of funk revival — equal parts tongue-in-cheek and technically brilliant.
Their 2004 debut She’s in Control introduced the world to their slick, synth-heavy sound with the breakout hit “Needy Girl,” but it was Fancy Footwork that cemented Chromeo’s cult status — earning critical acclaim and high-profile performances alongside Daryl Hall, Bloc Party, and at festivals like Bonnaroo and Coachella. From the disco-drenched Business Casual to the Grammy-nominated Head Over Heels, the duo’s catalog is packed with irresistible hooks, shimmering production, and their trademark blend of humor and heart.
Still as electric as ever, Chromeo continue to evolve while keeping their signature funk intact — launching their own label, Juliet Records, dropping their quarantine EP Quarantine Casanova for charity, and returning to the stage with their live album Date Night: Chromeo Live!.
