The Adventures of Matte Black are a hard‑working, deep‑thinking outfit led by Madison Gerish and Daniel Skinner, known for blending Factory Western, Gothic Americana, Steampunk, and Folk Rock into something that feels both dust‑covered and forward‑looking. Their lineup rotates with a cast of “intrepid traveling friends,” giving each performance a slightly different edge and energy.
Their 2024 self‑titled album clocks in at nearly an hour of immersive storytelling and atmospheric rock, and their live shows—like their performance of “Patsy Cline” recorded at Circa in High Bridge, NJ—showcase Gerish’s raw vocal presence and the band’s ability to shift from brooding to explosive without losing emotional clarity
Bonnie & the Mere Mortals fuse Appalachian Americana with goth, synthwave, and Southern Gothic tones. Their album Take Me to the Moon has been praised by Americana Highways as “a merger between glam and country Western,” and their aesthetic — described as Dolly Parton meets The Cure — has taken them from Nashville to NYC and beyond.
