Class Descriptions:
1. Basic Vernacular Jazz:
Vernacular jazz is the solo component to Lindy Hop, an acrobatic partner dance invented during the Harlem Renaissance. It was danced to swing era big band jazz, and is most commonly associated with Swing Dancing. This class will work on the vocabulary, transitions, rhythms, body movement, and aesthetic of authentic vernacular jazz.
Open to all!
2. Intermediate Vernacular Jazz:
Now that you’re comfortable with basic vocabulary, transitions and rhythms, we will take what you’ve learned and form it into a more advanced cohesive combination.
Open to all!
3. Intermediate Lindy Hop:
We will work on more advanced patterns, counterbalance, partnering, transitions, and flash moves!
You should be comfortable with basic 8 count patterns, including swing outs, circles and eight count turns.
NO PARTNER NEEDED!
Open to level 3 dancers and up, please.
