Many studies find a higher rate of physical and mental healthproblems among queer teens than in heterosexual youth, often noting social rejection as the culprit. However, a deeper look into a study conducted in 2018 of LGBTQIA youth suggests another major possible cause: parental rejection.
The statistics are painful. As a mother, I can not imagine the
idea of turning my back on my children. But the truth is you
don't have to be a parent to already know that your love for
anyone on this planet, will never be based on anything other
than the magic and beauty in their heart and soul.
To every single child and adult out there who has felt rejection,
loss, loneliness and dread - we are here for you. We will hold
your heart and your hand in our own. You belong to all of us
and with love we welcome you with open arms and lots of hugs.
