The Musical Theatre Intensive is a rigorous program that provides you with the ultimate Broadway experience in New York City. Led by Artistic Directors, Max Baud and Matthew Prescott, the program offers a comprehensive musical theatre education that combines training in dancing, singing and acting. Our summer intensive features professional artist-teacher faculty and guest artists, many of whom have created and performed in some of Broadway’s greatest shows around the world. The Musical Theatre intensive is unique as it features classes, workshops, and different types of performance opportunities each week. For the first two weeks, students are assigned to a Broadway musical for which they will study choreography and music. For our final two weeks, Joffrey Ballet School will produce a condensed version of a musical, providing students with the opportunity to experience the process of putting together a production all the way from casting and rehearsal through performing.
Week 1 Broadway Musical: Hamilton
Week 2 Broadway Musical: The Prom
Week 3 & 4 Broadway Musical: The Addams Family, directed by Broadway veteran Ellyn Marsh
Each week will offer a previous performer from the production who will offer a unique experience inspired by the Broadway musical. Students will perform the ensemble scene for their family and friends at the end of the first and second week. The Addams Family will be presented at the end of the final week.
