About this Event
NYC Agents Workshop: Agents at Work
Agentic automation has the potential to transform organizations by automating internal processes, expanding services to the long tail, and navigating bureaucracy. At the same time, they also present massive risks in terms of introducing data errors, poor reliability and LLM hallucination, the lack of accountability, data exfiltration, and spiraling resource costs.
Ultimately, the use of agents for work involves issues across technology, operations, management, and more, including:
- Are AI agents best framed as tools or as workers? How do we manage agents and can they manage us?
- How do agents as a service change the customer relationship?
- How can we develop applications, agents, interfaces, and systems that provide sufficient accountability, reliability, and efficiency to be trusted within organizations?
The Data, Agents, and Processes Lab at Columbia University is organizing a one-day workshop to bring together industry leaders, Columbia faculty and students, and technologists who are interested in the concept of AI agents.
Speakers and panelists come from enterprises that are deploying agentic solutions, technologists and infrastructure leaders, and researchers at leading AI labs as well as Columbia. These include Jason Wei from OpenAI who led their chain-of-thought and agentic work, Edo Liberty who is CEO of Pinecone, Cong Yu who leads AI at Celonis, and more.
This workshop is sponsored by DAPLab partners Intellect Design and Celonis, and is co-organized with the Digital Future Initiative at Columbia Business School, Columbia Engineering, and the Data Science Institute.
