NWS Skywarn Training at FGCU

Skywarn® is the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) National Weather Service’s (NWS) severe weather spotting program. Spotters support the NWS’ primary mission of protecting life and property through the issuance of severe weather warnings by conveying severe weather reports to their local NWS Forecast Office.

This training will be led by Jennifer Hubbard, Warning Coordination Meteorologist for NWS Ruskin, FL.

Agenda topics include:

• Basics of thunderstorm development
• Identifying potential severe weather features
• How and what Information to report
• Basic severe weather safety

This is a FREE in-person training and will be held in Whitaker Hall Rm 101 on Monday, February 3, 2025, from 2 - 3 PM.
