NuPO 2nd Networking Event
About this Event
Welcome to NuPO!
Hey everyone. Inspired by some some old timers I met from USC who have been doing something like this for decades and gotten so much out of it, this quaterly get together is an opportunity for us to all forge new friendships and hopefully create personal and professional relationships that wouldn't have happened otherwise with people who are all 1 or 2 degrees of separation from one another with a shared experience of USC and all from a similar era. This is our second event, and I'm thrilled about some of the new things coming to this meeting.
The event is slated for 2 hours, 5-7pm - we'll see if it lasts that long. The location will be at Arbor Financial Group. They have an amazing office and open meeting space. David Arvidson of our group has offered this location for this event and for future events when we aren't electively choosing another location. So I'm proud to say we now have a base of operations.
Separately, adding some structure to this event, David is going to do a 20 minute presentation about what he has built at Arbor Financial Group. They have a fascinating story (start, challenges, growth, tech) and I asked if he would talk what it has taken to become one of the largest indpendent mortgage brokers in the country. After he is done, we will hang around with some food and drinks provided to continue to get to know each other.
As far as the background of the name of this group, NuPO - it's a work in process. NuPO is a name I invented as a shout out to the success that an organization YPO has had in their evolution. We, however, are the "new" model of that.
Setting the stage, everyone at this and future events will be people personally referred into the group. It is not intended to be large (in fact the bias is to be the opposite). Thank you to those who have shared friends in their network from USC who would like to be involved already. That organic referral to the group is what is going to make this group awesome and I think create the backdrop for its connectivity.
My only ask is that those who participate commit to making this group a priority as much as is possible when I put out quarterly times and places to meet. Given it will be small, all our involvement is important.
This is not USC sanctioned, it is entirely independent from the school, but it is made up of only USC relationships we have as participants.
I'm really looking forward to seeing all of you at this event or in the future.
