One of my favourite concert halls is in Belgium. I played one of my best concerts abroad there. In London, the demand for jazz was already increasing; the reaction abroad was anyone's guess. But that night in the AB, you turned up en masse - it was as if London was suddenly in the heart of Belgium. I will never, ever forget that warm welcome.’

Third time's the charm! Nubya Garcia's first AB passage dates back to 2018 during the presentation of BBC 6 radio guru Gilles Peterson's genre-defying compilation ‘We Out Here’ that compiled the cream of London's jazz scene. In 2019, she was part of the all-female supergroup Nérija (including members of KOKOROKO) during the Feeërieën. Time for her biggest passage in her own right so far!
Her debut ‘Source’ (from 2020) won Best New Music on Pitchfork, ‘Album of the Month’ in Rolling Stone and was nominated in her home country for the prestigious Mercury Prize. Khruangbin then took her on tour across the US. Time for a new chapter: follow-up ‘Odyssey’ will be released soon, featuring a succulent mix of jazz, classical, dub, broken beat and R&B.
