Kyle brings a Roast Master's perspective shaped by a deep respect for the agricultural journey of the coffee bean. His work centers on technique, clean flavor profiles, and the idea that a perfect cup is a balance of science and craftsmanship.
Unlike standard coffee tastings, this experience is grounded in the shared chemistry between single-origin coffee and bean-to-bar chocolate. Both industries rely heavily on understanding terroir, managing meticulous roasting profiles, and capturing vibrant, natural acidity. In this session, ingredients aren’t just served; we dive into how they are crafted.
What to Expect: This event brings those concepts to life through a live pour-over demonstration and a guided tasting flight. Guests will experience firsthand how origin and sourcing influence flavor dramatically by tasting five distinct coffees side-by-side with five Nuance single-origin chocolates.
During the flight, we will open up the floor for a casual, engaging conversation about the craft behind both beans:
- The Fruit and the Ferment: Did you know that both coffee and chocolate are actually the seeds of tropical fruits? We will chat about how both crops rely on regional fermentation right on the farm to unlock their signature flavor profiles before they ever reach a roaster.
- Time and Temperature: Discover how heat develops flavor. We will compare the fast, high-heat profile used to bring out the sweetness in coffee against the low, slow, and gentle roasting process required to preserve the delicate, floral notes of premium cacao.
- Hands-On Sensory Demonstration: Watch the craft in real-time. Kyle will lead a live pour-over demonstration, showing you how to get the perfect extraction and highlighting the visual coffee "bloom." Meanwhile, we will have a whole raw cacao pod on hand and invite you to crack freshly roasted cacao beans to experience the immediate burst of aroma right at the table.
