Nua Dance: NOISE
Nua Dance's interactive film for BBC Arts and Dance Passion, commissioned by One Dance UK, The Place and Dance East, has paved the way for this immersive performance of NOISE for Deaf and hearing audiences. Prepare to question and explore your understanding of noise through vibrating soundscapes and reactive visuals. Follow the dancers on a captivating journey, inspired by their personal experiences of navigating communication challenges in a society bound by ableism and heteronormativity. Brace yourself for a mind-altering experience of self-discovery, leaving you energised and awakened. Choose your own path and immerse yourself in this vibrant, transformative performance.
"Watching Noise was a multi-sensory experience. As a Deaf person, it was rewarding to see and feel the echo of the deaf experience, via the deaf dancer Chris Fonseca and deaf video projection designer Ben Glover, as well as the experience of the others. Yes dance is visual, but sometimes there is a disconnection to experience the music fully and what music represents. This show fulfils that by the clever use of lighting, projection and vibrancy. I felt drawn into the visual chao and pushed away at the same time. This is what Noise is all about for me - not being defined by sound alone but your other senses too." Stephen Collins
What will you experience?
This is an immersive dance performance with no seats, where you can move freely through the space. There will be projections on hanging screens, reflected by hanging mirrors. There will also be a rocking board for the dancers to use in the performance. Three dancers will move around the whole of the space. At the end of the performance all the audiences will be gathered in the middle of the space and encouraged to dance together as lights dim out.
TransHuman Embodiment and Beyond
Your ticket will also give you access to TransHuman Embodiment and Beyond by Rachel Gadsden & Freddie Meyers, which is taking place in the Foyer 7.30pm - 8pm. So please stay and experience this performance too! More information on the website
